Jolyssa Abigail Lawrence is a passionate and ambitious 28 year old entrepreneur. Who was born and raised in the cool, serene hills of Spalding Manchester, Jamaica. Her childhood was filled with adventure and joy. Her parents would often take her to the river, where they spent time cooking, laughing, and making memories together. She always loved listening to the soothing sound of the water running by while the pot bubbled over the fire. She couldn’t resist sneaking a peek to see what delicious meal was being prepared, eagerly anticipating the feast to come. Growing up, she was also part of the Girl Guide Movement, an experience that shaped much of who she is today.
In 2013, she proudly received the Jeffrey Smith Award ,the highest recognition in the movement. It was during her time as a Girl Guide that she honed in on her leadership skills and developed a strong sense of responsibility, teamwork, and determination. These formative years provided the foundation for many of the qualities she carries with her to this day. She is the only child for her mother and the second of three siblings for her father. Jolyssa pursued her education in Jamaica, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Her academic journey took her through Knox Community College and Montego Bay Community College, where she developed her skills and deepened her understanding of the culinary and hospitality industry. Cooking has always been at the heart of Jolyssa’s dreams. At just 10 years old, she envisioned opening her own Jamaican restaurant, a dream she has been determined to bring to life.
Now based in Naples, Southwest Florida. Jolyssa is the proud founder and owner of J&N Yardie Style Cooking, a business that showcases the rich, authentic flavors of Jamaican cuisine. Her goal is to share her culture through food, building strong connections with her Floridian community while growing her brand. Jolyssa’s parents, proud of her accomplishments, continue to be her greatest support system. Their legacy as chefs serves as both inspiration and motivation for her to succeed. Living by her personal motto, “The sky is the limit—once you dream it, you will achieve it”. Jolyssa is committed to turning her lifelong passion into a thriving reality. With her culinary talents, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering determination, Jolyssa Abigail Lawrence is poised to leave a lasting mark, one flavorful dish at a time.
